Northern Michigan Vein Specialists accepts most insurance plans and most procedures are covered by insurance. Patients are, of course responsible for their copays and\/or deductibles.<\/p>\n
There are 3 main criteria that must be met in order for your procedure\/s to be covered:<\/p>\n
Symptoms:<\/strong> examples of symptoms are edema\/swelling, heaviness, cramping, venous ulcer, discoloration, visible varicose veins<\/p>\n Reflux:<\/strong> we check for reflux by doing an ultrasound and squeezing your calf to make the blood go up toward your heart. If the blood runs back down, that demonstrates reflux.<\/p>\n Stockings:<\/strong> most insurances require a 12 week trial of compression stockings prior to covering vein procedures. If you have not been wearing compression stockings, we will give you a prescription at your first visit.<\/p>\n As stated above, each and every insurance is different.
